The Gateway Lodge

We stayed 21/4/24 in room 25. The lass on reception was just wonderful, warm, welcoming and helpful. The night porter later in the evening was also really lovely. The room was immaculate, beautifully decorated, roomy and very comfortable. Breakfast wasn’t the traditional pile it high buffet but was exceptionally tasty and cooked with great care. Fabulous stay and a highlight of our trip especially as it’s only a few minutes walk into the town where we found a pub packed with locals and traditional Irish music being played. Brilliant Irish hospitality at its best!

I stayed in the Gateway Lodge before the staff are so friendly and helpful, the food is lovely and the rooms are very nice I highly recomend for a midweek or weekend break, its very close to the town centre were lots to do and enjoy. But I really enjoyed my stay in the Gateway Lodge thank you to all the staff.

We really liked this hotel in every respect. It's a short walk into Donegal from the hotel. There's ample on-site parking (always a plus in Europe). The room was very spacious, immaculately clean, and comfortable. The room was a rather contemporary design and the rate was very reasonable in comparison to other Irish hotels we stayed at. Finally, the attached restaurant served the best breakfast we ate in Ireland.

Stayed here on a Sunday night while traveling through. The room was large and warm with an excellent shower. Also reasonably priced. Layla (sp?) at the front desk was charming and helpful upon my arrival. She's a definite asset to the Gateway.

The accommodation was great, everything was very clean, and modern furnishings done to a high standard. Easy checks in and central to the town as well. Breakfast was 💯 🤌 stay for the breakfast! They also made adjustments for mine which was GF.

Simply the Best, I have stayed here on several occasions and have never been let down, excellent service from check in to leaving, and what a Breakfast..... yum yum yum, The Gateway is my first choice when in Donegal. Katie and Craig take a bow. Larry

My wife and I have just returned from a 3 night weekend stay at the Gateway Lodge which as the brochure states is only a five minute stroll from town . The room was large, warm and quiet and spotless , ditto the bathroom. The bed enormous and comfy with a generous supply of pillows . The breakfast was generous and faultless in quality and all the staff in the hotel are so friendly and cheery. . Really a great weekend stay. Thanks

What a super place to stay. Great staff, warm welcome, comfortable bedroom and prime location for visiting one of the best kept secrets in Ireland. That’s Donegal Town! Easy to get to, beautiful location and scenery, great shopping AND amongst the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. The Gateway Lodge also does one of the tastiest and best value breakfasts in its award winning restaurant Blas. With all of the above you’d think it must be reasonably expensive. Not at all if you book direct.

Fabulous stay at the hotel this weekend for a birthday surprise! Trying to book somewhere for 11 people I thought, was never going to be easy, how wrong I was! These guys made everything super easy & stress free. We arrived in dribs & drabs & were able to check in super early…bonus! Staff helped us keep people hidden until we were ready to spring the surprise too. Rooms were spotless & beautifully decorated. Beds super comfy & more pillows in the wardrobe. Requested one room with a walk in shower & were given a room with a wet room; just perfect! Food in Blas was superb & you absolutely could not fault the service. All in all a great weekend made all the better by the amazing staff at this hotel. Thanks so much 😁
